Before I created Hummingbird Lane Fabrics and Notions
I was shopping at quilt stores online or traveling up to an hour or more to go to an actual quilt store. In Southern California, it’s not cheap to drive over an hour due to the crazy gas prices and most stores I shopped at online didn’t ship fast enough for me. One order took 2 whole weeks just for them to process it! I was frustrated to say the least.
Then one day it happened.
It had always been a dream of mine to own my own fabric store and when I gave birth to my daughter, my first and only, I knew it was time. I wanted to create a legacy for my daughter and inspire the next generation of sewers and quilters. And so, Hummingbird Lane Fabrics was born.
I was concerned that the market was over saturated and I had absolutely no chance of surviving.
Or that most people already had a loyalty to other shops and therefore I would have to work really hard to earn their loyalty as well.
But then I decided I didn’t need to compete for loyalty. I just needed to offer something different.
I decided to set out to create the most customer centric, and unique fabric store for the most creative and awe-inspiring quilters, sewers, and bag makers in the world!
It turns out, the road was more difficult than I imagined.
I first had to find out where you all were so I could market to you and hope that you would buy from my little shop. Then I had to prove to you that I had high quality fabrics and the best customer service around!
I always strive to respond to inquiries as quickly as I can. Emails always come straight from me to show you I care about you and your questions/concerns. Orders get processed same day or next day.
Before I opened my virtual doors on August 1, 2018, I feared no one would come.
No one would be interested in my fabric or my little shop.
Through it all, we shipped our first orders within a few days of opening and the response has been pure love from everyone who purchases from us. All the responses have been supportive and appreciative of our customer service which proves that my mission has been successful so far.
We have so many great things planned for this shop and I’m so glad you have decided to join us on this journey!
