Here at Hummingbird Lane Fabrics we strive to provide top notch customer service, a friendly and fun atmosphere, and some of the most amazing modern fabrics! We are looking for a friendly, outgoing and energetic customer service person to become an integral part of the team. This individual should have excellent communication skills, be able to work with a vast variety of individuals and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

Job Responsibilities Include the Following:

These duties and responsibilities are not comprehensive. The position and its responsibilities may change over time or as business necessitates.

  • Standard fabric store responsibilities include cutting and folding fabric, assisting the customer in finding their perfect fabric mate, stocking and restocking the shelves with inventory, keep the store clean, neat and tidy, and other general duties as directed
  • Brand Ambassador: act as a brand representative reflective of the company and store values
  • Customer Service: Take an active role in developing and maintaining new and existing customer relationships (whether in store, online, or over the phone), including follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Help plan and facilitate special events throughout the year
  • Maintain a high level of enthusiasm and love of handmade
  • Be an advocate and problem solver, not just for the customer but for the shop as a whole
  • Must be able to manage high volume of orders
  • Quality and Efficiency are critical


  • Tech Savvy is essential as we have a popular online store and do a lot of shipments. Must be comfortable with learning new technological tools and applications
  • Experience with Shopify, Microsoft Office, especially Excel preferred
  • Process driven

Prior Experience:

  • Retail Associates & Cashiers: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Quilting or sewing experience (Preferred, but not necessary)

Physical Requirements:

  • This position is primarily standing with walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers while operating a keyboard and cutting fabric
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally
