Have fun with your favorite fabric prints to customize your own watches! This Memphis Time quilt pattern by Kimberly Kight is a fun skill building quilt that includes straight piecing, piecing from templates, foundation paper-piecing, applique and curved piecing. Make one block for a table runner or all 5 blocks for a quilt.

Fabric Requirements (44-45″ wide quilting cotton)

One Block:

  1. Background – 1 1/2 yards*
  2. Watchbands – 1/2 yard ( 5/8 yard if using a directional print)
  3. Watch Loop – scrap 3″ x 6″
  4. Watch Case – 1 fat quarter
  5. Watch Face – 1 fat quarter
  6. Watch Hands – 1-2 3″ x 6″ scraps
  7. Buckle – 1 fat eighth (9″ x 22″ or 11″ x 18″)
  8. Watch Crown – scrap 2″ x 4″
  9. Batting – 20″ x 94″
  10. Backing – 3 yards
  11. Binding – 5/8 yard

Twin/Full Quilt:

  1. Background – 6 yards
  2. Watchbands – 5 different 1/2 yards (5/8 yard if directional print)
  3. Watch Loop – 5 scraps 3″ x 6″ each
  4. Watch Case – 5 fat quarters
  5. Watch Face – 5 fat quarters
  6. Watch Hands – 5-10 3″ x 6″ scraps
  7. Buckle – 5 fat eighths
  8. Watch Crown – 5 scraps 2″ x 4″
  9. Batting – 85″ x 94″
  10. Backing – 8 1/2 yards
  11. Binding – 7/8 yard

Note: There is enough excess in the Watchband, Watch Case, and Watch Face fabrics to also yield the smaller elements (crown, loop, watch hands, buckle). Selvedges can be used for Watch Hands and Buckle Prong. Yardage was calculated to account for shrinkage if you are pre-washing. However, please purchase extra fabric if you intend to fussy-cut any pieces.

* Digital cutting machine users: increase yardage to 1 3/4 yards of background for one block; 6 1/2 yards for the Twin/Full Quilt. All other yardage requirements are the same.
